Sunday 9th March- Castle Coombe

Hilda and Elaine led 6 of us on a lovely spring day from the “prettiest village in England”. It was 6.5 miles with lunch at the White Hart. We also visited the church and saw the faceless clock and beautiful stained glass windows.

Thursday 13th March

Sue Haslingden organised a walking tour around Redcliffe. 18 of us enjoyed a very information insight into Medieval Redcliffe led by Richard Stride. We started from St Mary Redcliffe which is sited outside medieval Redcliffe but was paid for by the rich merchants from Redcliffe and ended near the Temple Church with a leaning tower . It was built on the site of a previous round church of the Knights Templar. The only parish church in Redcliffe is St Thomas which is next to the Seven Stars Pub which was a haunt of Thomas Clarkson who was a leading light in the abolition of slavery in Britain and worldwide

Sunday 23rd March – Priddy

Five of us braved a challenging 8 mile walk on a cloudy but mild day. There were a lot of spring flowers and a steep climb and 25 stiles. We then had lunch at the Queen Victoria in Priddy.

Thursday 27th March – Chepstow

14 of us walked from Chepstow Castle on an interesting walk using the start of the Wye valley trail and then passing the ruin of Piercefield House and returning alongside the race course. It was 4.5 miles.
