Sunday 5th May
Sapperton, Thames and Severn Canal. Andy and Lorna Renshaw
15 people enjoyed a lovely 8 plus…miles walk on Sunday lead by Andy and Lorna.We started In Sapperton village, up Charlford hills through beautiful large green fields with wild flowers….garlic fields…all the way up toOakridge Lynch where we stopped for lunch. Then down the hills and through Siccaridge woods, along the abandoned Severn and Thames canals, past the “Sapperton canal tunnel”, it was the longest canal tunnel in England from 1789 to 1811(3490 meters)

Thursday 9th May (medium)
Portbury and Priors Wood. Walk 6 miles, drive 24 miles. Exp 154, LR 172, GR 498753. Margaret Ruse
5 of us had a good walk and the Bluebells were at their best.


SATURDAY 18th May
Bath and Claverton. Walk 9 miles. Exp 155, LR 172, GR ST776665. David McGregor.
Fourteen of us on a very enjoyable walk led by David McGregor.
We started at the George in Bathampton along the canal to Dundas Aquaduct, we had around twenty minutes downpour… then the weather settled….we then climbed gently to the 1.7 kms long railway tunnel (with lights and music)…we stopped for lunch on the other side of the tunnel then walked down to Lyncombe Vale in the centre of Bath to rejoin the canal and returned to the George.
