New Years Day Walk – Monday 1st January 2018

Four keen members joined Gordon and Wendy Wise on a walk which started very wet, but ended in sunshine. Unfortunately the pub where they had booked our lunches failed to open, but their local knowledge led both walkers and 8 fainthearts to the Swan at Tytherington. Here the staff produced an excellent meal for the 14 of us despite already being fully booked! We are very grateful to them – and Wendy says there are several lovely walks around the pub, so it may be a promising destination for future short walks!

The sunshine at the end!

The non walkers joined us for a lovely lunch at the Swan in Tytherington.

Uley, Bury and Cam Peak – Thursday 11th January 2018

A stretching 6+ mile walk led by our chairman David McGregor. Thanks to Gordon for photos.

Backwell and Brockley – Sunday 21st January 2018

All-focus
The wet one – a walk around Blackwell on Sunday 21st January 2018
Six synchronised swimmers braved the woods above Blackwell to ford streams, plough through miles of muddy lanes, practising various swimming strokes through lakes and testing the waterproofing quality of Gortex to the limit. Sara Wilmott, as our swimming coach, together with 5 novices seeking their first length certificate, waded through a 7 mike walk with continuous heavy rain but enjoyed every minute in great company.
If in in future you have doubt whether to walk when you see a wet forecast come and join us: we can guarantee you will enjoy it!
don’t worry if you don’t get to it either.
Down in the woods in the wet!

Let’s all hope this proves to be the wettest walk of the year!!!
