On Sunday 27th April 2014, David McGregor led a 10 mile walk from Pont Nedd Fechan – the Waterfalls Walk in the western part of the Brecon Beacons National Park. 12 members of the club (David, Gordon & Wendy, Toby & Sue, Dick, John H, Liz H, Alison, Lorna, Margaret and Neville) tackled this challenging walk in mixed weather conditions. All agreed it was an experience very worthwhile and a great day’s walking. Well done David for taking us all there!!
The following photos and text try to capture the events of the day. Route started at the Waterfalls Centre car-park in Pont Nedd Fechan next to the Angel Pub and went in a clockwise direction, first north to the waterfall at Sgwd Gwladus and then series of waterfalls up to Pont Melin-fach (coffee stop) and on to Cwm Porth Visitor Centre for lunch and visit to its infamous pothole and cave. The walk then headed south past the Sgwd Clun-Gwyn Waterfall (part of the 4 waterfalls circuit) and onward to the very impressive waterfall at Sgwd yr Eira where the group walked behind the falls before heading south and then west back to the start through forests and past the Craig Y Ddinas abseiling centre for a well earned drink in the Angel Inn.
